Diandino awaits invitation from Congress

The director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transport (OPRET) Diandino Pena, is waiting for the arrival of an “invitation” announced by the Chamber of Deputies, to go there and explain all there is to know about the metro project that he is overseeing, as reported by Diario Libre. Pena said that he was very pleased about the invitation and is waiting to receive it officially. Deputies had announced their decision to question Pena regarding the project’s cost and had threatened not to approve the RD$1.88 billion allocated in the 2006 Budget bill for its construction. During last Tuesday’s session, deputies were not able to round up the two-thirds majority vote required to interpellate Pena, as PLD lawmakers argued that the metro represents progress.
