Financial aid for sextuplets

The parents of the sextuplets who were born on 26 December 2005 at the Plaza de la Salud have received an initial contribution of RD$100,000 from the Ministry of Public Health, which will also provide specialized personnel to look after the babies during their first year of life, once they are sent home. Listin Diario reports that the check was delivered to the parents, Emilio Figueroa and Maxima Perez by Public Health Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez. In addition to this initial contribution, the ministry will provide the family with a monthly stipend. Yesterday, the children were reported to be in stable condition. The Ministry of Education also provided a contribution of RD$70,000 which was delivered to the children’s parents by Administrative Deputy Minister Fausto Mota. The Ministry of Education will also provide a RD$20,000 monthly stipend to the parents for one year. This donation came following a commitment made by Education Minister Alejandrina German during a visit to the hospital after the babies were born.
