Filming under strict security

Four blocks in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone were militarized for the filming of Robert De Niro’s The Good Shepherd this weekend, according to a report in Clave Digital. Monday’s filming took place at the intersection of Duarte and Padre Billini Streets. The whole area was blocked by army personnel with rifles and members of the Tourist Police (POLITUR). Security personnel had been given instructions not to let anybody enter the area without a pass. Meanwhile, owners of stores and shops around the area were complaining that access to their businesses has been blocked, affecting their sales. Maria Rodriguez, who owns a pub in the area, said that they were told that filming would take place from today until Thursday and that there would only be slight disruption to the free transit of passers-by and vehicles during the filming. On Sunday she found that the whole area was militarized and there was no access to her pub. Rodriguez complained that she had made no sales that day.
