Metro construction disrupts Maximo Gomez

Santo Domingo’s Maximo Gomez Avenue is undergoing an “urban metamorphosis”, according to Listin Diario. Construction work for the metro is taking place on six different locations along the thoroughfare. Excavation work has begun at stations that will be located near the Ministry of Education, the National Theater, the Olympic Center, Americo Lugo Street, the National Cemetery, and Pedro Livio Cedeno Avenue, all of which are on Maximo Gomez Avenue. Work is also under way from Charles de Gaulle Avenue to Francisco J. Peynado Bridge, where an elevated railway is under construction. More than 65 columns for the railway are being erected along Hermanas Mirabal Avenue.
