Seven soldiers found guilty

The Army Chief is recommending that six soldiers and one sergeant be fired for allowing the container truck carrying 69 illegal Haitian migrants – 25 of which died of asphyxia – to enter Dominican territory. The Army had arrested 60 soldiers and placed them under investigation following last week’s tragedy. According to Diario Libre, the seven army members were found guilty of negligence in the performance of their duties. They were on duty at the El Chacuey checkpoint.
