New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has decided to play for the US in the 2006 World Baseball Classic to be held in March this year. “After discussing this with my agent and my family, the Commissioner and the Major League Players Association, I have decided to play in the World Baseball Classic… I have reached the conclusion that I will play for the United States”, said Rodriguez on MLB.com and AROD.com. A-Rod was indecisive about whether he should play for the US or the DR until the last moment. He was born in the US to Dominican parents and has dual nationality, and therefore has the option of playing for either team.
