EU to contribute in migratory policy

The European Commission chief of delegation for the DR and Cuba said yesterday that his institution would cooperate with the DR to resolve migratory differences with Haiti. Ambassador Dino Sinigallia described the Haitian situation as complex, and said that he understands that it is necessary to seek a feasible solution as soon as possible. He announced that a Caribbean conference would be held in February with the participation of the EU ambassador in Haiti to discuss the situation in Haiti and its possible solutions. Migratory differences between the DR and Haiti became more acute last week when 25 illegal migrants died of asphyxia in a truck while being smuggled into the country.
