President Leonel Fernandez told reporters yesterday that he was looking forward to talks this week with the deputies and the senators in an attempt to reach some solution to the budget talks stalemate. Today, the Presidential Minister for Technical Affairs, Temistocles Montas will visit the Congress as head of a team from the Executive Branch. They will meet with the presidents of the two chambers in a search for solutions regarding the budget. In his response to questions from reporters, the President said that the “only thing I want is the RD$7 billion that was taken from the budget we submitted. Whether this comes from the exchange commission tax or someplace else, it makes no matter, it just has to appear.” At no time has the government considered cutting its superfluous spending.
