President Leonel Frnandez inaugurated last night the Police computer system that will support the Democratic Security Program in providing safer environments in the heavily populated barrios of Santo Domingo and Santiago. Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez blessed the RD$80 million peso project. The program will connect 26 SUVs, 13 cars and more than 20 motorcycles and 200 Police stations. Currently, there are 255 members of the Police force studying at CETEC and another 1,200 will be trained at the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA). The Chief of Police, General Santana Paez told reporters that many operations that were centralized at the National Police Headquarters in Santo Domingo will now be available throughout the country. He cited such things as accident reports, the issuing of official Police reports, good conduct certificates, lost or stolen vehicle reports and the list of person being held for investigation.
