Homemade gun man released

Modesto Paniagua (Bony), the 35-year old man arrested for carrying a homemade gun at an event attended by President Leonel Fernandez in Azua was released yesterday. He had been ordered to serve three months in jail. He is obliged to check in with state prosecutors every 20 days. Investigations carried out by state security forces found that the man did not intend to harm the President. On Saturday, speaking to Listin Diario reporters, he had said it had never occurred to him, because he was more of a Leonel supporter than Leonel himself. He asked for his freedom, saying he has five children.
