A small Cessna 172 belonging to Caribair crashed and burned shortly after take-off from the Arroyo Barril airport on the south side of the Samana peninsula. The plane had come from Punta Cana and had dropped off some passengers, and was going on to Portillo to pick up others. Three people perished in the crash: pilot Raul David Moran Patino, Angel Garcia Abreu, and Keyla Feliz Martinez. The Civil Aviation authorities will carry out an investigation into the accident.
