PRD dissident senator, Tunti Rutinel Dominguez said that the so-called Pink Alliance between a section of the Reformista Party and another of the PRD seeks to secure enough representatives in Congress to push forward a revision of the Constitution that would enable former President Hipolito Mejia to run for President in 2008. The present Constitution bans from seeking election a candidate that opted for re-election and lost, as is the case of Mejia. Rutinel denounced that the present government has been negotiating impunities with former President Mejia because it has not adopted measures to fight corruption within this administration. Rutinel made the statements on the La Ventana de Jesus morning talk show, broadcast on CDN Radio.
