The Chamber of Deputies has approved legislation that gives the Internal Revenue and Customs agencies full, legal autonomy within the government structure. This new rank will free the two agencies from any ministerial controls and provides each agency with its own budget. Each agency will have legal standing in the courts, and will no longer depend on the Ministry of Finance.
