EDEs must pay back RD$32.5 million

Errors made by the three electricity distribution companies EdeEste, EdeNorte, and EdeSur in meter readings, excessive billings and irregular suspensions of service during January add up to RD$32.5 million, which must now be credited to their clients, as reported by El Caribe. This information was disclosed by the Electricity Superintendence’s Consumer Protection Department (Protecom), which explained that the company with most to reimburse is EdeSur (RD$24.7 million), followed by EdeNorte (RD$4.2 million), and EdeEste (RD$3.6 million). Protecom has made readjustments totaling RD$281.7 million in favor of users since August 2004.
