Presidential journalists under control

According to Presidential Press Director Rafael Nunez, the noise made by journalists, photographers, and cameramen covering the Presidential Palace did not disturb former President Hipolito Mejia because he never read and liked to spend his time “playing dominoes” in the streets. Nunez said that nobody needing quiet can work in the midst of the gaggle of journalists in the corridor leading to the President’s office, which they call “Duarte con Paris” after one of the busiest and noisiest intersections of Santo Domingo. From now on, the journalists will have to wait in the pressroom to collect their stories.
