Former president of the National Council of Business, Celso Marranzini says that the recent agreement signed between the governmental CDEEE and the independent power companies, with the announced intention of making the power service more efficient and lowering its cost, is but a case of whitewash of the country’s energy crisis. He said that this could only lead to more blackouts and increasing power bills to paying consumers. Interviewed by Hector Herrera Cabral on the D’Agenda TV program on Channel 11, he said that the latest agreement is just one of many signed between the two sectors every time there is a crisis, to make consumers believe that the service will get better, when in reality it is just getting worse. He explained that it is easier for the distributors to accept hefty subsidies from the government, instead of becoming more efficient at collecting from consumers.
