EU supports transparency

The European Union is implementing a program called “Strengthening of civil society in support of public institutions for access to information and accountability”, intended to create tools for citizens to watch over state administration. As reported by Diario Libre, European Commission head of delegation Dino Sinigallia stated that “in a democratic society, citizens must have the information and capacity to demand accountability from entities that are governing on their behalf”. The project will last for three years and will have national coverage. It will include Participacion Ciudadana and Intermon Oxfam who signed the agreement with the EU yesterday.
