A lawsuit seeking US$300 million in damages will be filed in the next few days against the Dominican state by Shlomo Ben-Tov, a.k.a. Sam Goodson, for having been imprisoned in Florida while awaiting extradition for his alleged involvement in the Plan Renove case. The Southern District Court freed Goodson after the local defendants in the same case were acquitted by the Dominican courts. The court in Florida said it did not trust the Dominican Justice Department’s indictment in the request for extradition of Goodson, as reported by Diario Libre. Goodson spent seven months in jail. His attorney, Biaggi Pumarol, said the suit would be filed in the same court where he was tried.
