Fernandez & Jeffrey Sachs

President Leonel Fernandez will participate in a videoconference with economist Jeffrey Sachs as part of the OAS Lecture Series of the Americas. Sachs is director of the Earth Institute and the Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University. He serves as special advisor to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on the Millennium Development Goals, the internationally agreed targets for reducing extreme poverty, disease and hunger by the year 2015. The videoconference is scheduled for 4pm (3pm US ET), from the OAS Building in Washington. Sachs will speak on “New Approaches to Economic Directions in Latin America.” Jeffrey Sachs will take questions from the media and the audience immediately after his presentation, which will be transmitted live via satellite and on the OAS Web site (www.oas.org). President Leonel Fernandez will take part in the event from the DR, via videoconference.
