Flight agreement with the UK

Yesterday, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic governments signed a bilateral agreement that opens the way for regular commercial flights between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso and his British counterpart, Jack Straw, and states that airlines determined by both governments will have equal opportunities to compete on routes that are to be established at a later date. According to Morales Troncoso, the agreement will prevent unfair competition between airlines and will protect consumers from excessive tariffs. For his part, Jack Straw underlined that the agreement will allow an increase of the reciprocal flow of people and goods, and contribute to closer bilateral relations between the DR and the UK.
