Progreso presents US consultants

Yesterday, Grupo Progreso presented the consultants it has hired for the lawsuit in the US against former executive president Pedro Castillo. Attorney Stephen Lavier from Patton Boggs law firm, and Auditor John Wilkinson, from Price Waterhouse, a firm that specializes in forensic investigations and has worked on several similar cases around the world, were presented during a press conference by Francisco Alvarez Valdez. Stephen stated that Banco del Progreso had been greatly defrauded and that they had taken over the defense in January 2006 asking for judicial measures against Pedro Castillo’s property. “In New York, a judge issued a warrant ordering the freezing of a several-million-dollar account; in Colorado, the sale of a condominium purchased with embezzled funds and valued at US$5 million was blocked, and in Florida, the sale of a luxury home was also blocked. We estimate that Castillo has between 20 to 35 million dollars in the United States”, stated Stephen.
