Historian proposes leaders honored

Former director of the National Archives Ramon A. Font-Bernard is proposing that the remains of Jose Francisco Pena Gomez and former presidents Juan Bosch and Joaquin Balaguer should be laid to rest in the National Pantheon. The proposal first appeared in an editorial in Hoy newspaper on 25 March, and is the subject of a commentary in today’s Listin Diario. Located on Calle Las Damas in colonial Santo Domingo, the old Church of the Jesuit Fathers was converted into the National Pantheon in the 1950s. The remains of Dominican heroes and many presidents are kept there.
