International support for the Dominican Republic has allowed the nation to be chosen as the seat for the President of Ibero-American Institute for Maritime Law for the next two years. The Institute attempts to reconcile the different interpretations of maritime law for the Ibero-American nations. The decision was taken at the Institute’s recent meeting in Madrid, Spain.
