Yesterday, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) published the list of candidates presented by political parties, which shows cases such as the same person being nominated by two parties, even where there is no alliance between them. The oddest case is that of one candidate who appears on the lists of two organizations, but is running for two different legislative positions. Modesto Mendez Mateo was registered as a candidate for Senator of San Juan de la Maguana by MIUCA and strangely he is being nominated by the PRSC as candidate for deputy in the same province. Diario Libre assures that it is the same person as the photographs and cedula number are the same. Besides that, his cedula number begins with “001” which indicates that he does not vote in San Juan. Another strange case is that of Menegildo de la Rosa Solano, who is the candidate for deputy in the same province for both the PRSC and MIUCA. The problem is that these two parties do not have an alliance in San Juan, so the votes he receives through one party cannot be added to the votes received through the other party.
