Dominican women who enjoyed local TV success have moved on to stardom in Spain, Mexico, the United States and Puerto Rico. Listin Diario newspaper mentions that these include Charytin Goico, Nancy Alvarez, Mariasela Alvarez, Vielka Valenzuela and Carolina Feliz, three generations of women presenters. Charytin Goico was the trailblazer and appears on Puerto Rican TV and in Miami, to the extent that she is known as “The Blonde of the Americas”. In this decade, former Miss World Mariasela Alvarez has made her mark on Spanish television, winning awards for her program, “Esta noche Mariasela”, on Popular TV in Madrid which airs from 10:30 to 11:30pm on Sundays. Also in Madrid, Carolina Feliz is part of the Telemadrid Latino production team. In Mexico, Vielka Valenzuela is popular for her role as co-host of the “Hoy” show, Mexico’s leading morning show. Nancy Alvarez hosts the TV show, “Quien tiene la razon”, that airs on Telefutura in Miami and is broadcast to Hispanic audiences in the Americas via Univision.
