“Use Your Head” is the slogan of the 2006 Accident Prevention Campaign that the National Emergency Commission will be running over the Easter holidays. Schools in the DR close on Friday, 7 April, with most reopening on Tuesday, 18 April. Easter is traditionally vacation time for many Dominicans. Thousands leave the cities to visit family and friends in the provincial towns or book reservations at beach and mountain resorts nationwide. The Use Your Head campaign seeks to raise awareness of the perils of drunk and reckless driving when so many people will be on the roads and in public places, said Rosanna Reyes, assistant Attorney General, when she made the announcement of the prevention program. The program includes restrictions on motorized boating and some water sports at popular beaches.
