“Vla” jailed

Vladimir Pujols, the DR justice system’s most wanted man, will be sent to a maximum security facility as soon as an investigative magistrate in Azua hears the charges against him. The new Attorney General, Rodolfo Espiniera said that his office was required to preserve the rights of the accused, who is said to have killed several people, and for that reason, he could not reveal which facility the alleged leader of the gang known as the “Zayayines” would be sent to. The AG said that he would not reveal the names of witnesses that would testify at the hearings. Police chief General Bernardo Santana Paez, said that he would be reinforcing the protection for Sandra Vargas, the widow of a newspaper reporter allegedly killed by Pujols. To further complicate matters, Diario Libre is reporting that Pujols will be investigated in relation to the case against Quirino Paulino Castillo, the man accused of smuggling 1,387 kilograms of cocaine through the Dominican Republic. Azua prosecutor Rafael Brito Pena announced the start of this investigation yesterday.
