Magaly Toribio, who has worked as marketing counsel to the Tourism Minister during his current term in office, and has been in charge of liaison with the BVK public relations and advertising agency in the US, was appointed deputy tourism minister last week. Decree 144-66 appoints her to replace Hans Dannenberg who has just taken up his new post as the Dominican Republic’s first ambassador to India. Toribio will be responsible for Santo Domingo, Boca Chica and Juan Dolio, as well as for cruise ship matters. Toribio is the founder and owner of Target, a tourism and marketing public relations agency that also produces the De Viaje magazine and the Playa Dorada hotels magazine. She is a graduate in hotel administration from UNIBE and has a masters degree in marketing from INTEC, and graduate studies in Italy and Spain.
