Efforts to ensure that the large abandoned that use to house a major chocolate factory last century is not torn down or privatized, and may instead be converted into a cultural center moved forward last week. The Ministry of Culture received the transfer of the industrial plant, thanks to the efforts of cultural promoter Oscar Hungria of Fundacion Atlantica and the Puerto Plata Cluster. The French government is supporting the initiative to turn the location into a major north coast cultural center.
