Theft at Verizon office

Criminals are getting more daring every day. A Verizon telecommunications office was robbed early yesterday in Calle El Conde, near the corner of Eugenio Maria de Hostos, in the city’s downtown pedestrian mall, and a street with a heavy police presence. The raid took place at 7:30am and the thieves left with more than RD$171,000. Cashier Nancy Ramirez, the only employee in the store at the time, was injured. The watchman was late that morning. To carry out the robbery, the thieves sedated the cashier.
