With a powerful swing of the bat in the eighth inning, David Ortiz secured a Red Sox 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees with a three-run home run into the bullpen on Monday night. As reported in the Major League Baseball Boston Red Sox web site, when the game was over, the sellout crowd at Fenway Park “was doing what it loves most: cheering David Ortiz.” The Dominican slugger delivered a three-run shot in the eighth, to finish off a four-run inning for the Red Sox, who won the first meeting of the season over the Yankees.
