Delta to fly to Puerto Plata

As from 15 December 2006, Delta Air Lines is adding an Atlanta-Puerto Plata connection. The airline announced that the flight will operate during the peak winter season, when both tourists and expatriates visit the DR. Delta already flies from Atlanta to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, as well as operating flights between New York (JFK) and Santo Domingo and Santiago. According to Delta Chief Operating Officer Jim Whitehurst, the decision comes as part of the plan to strengthen the company’s positioning in the Caribbean, as the airline continues its expansion to Latin America and the Caribbean islands. The airline has added nearly 40 new routes to Latin America and the Caribbean in the last 12 months.

The airline announced flight times would be:

Flight 256 departs Atlanta at 11:05 am and arrives in Puerto Plata at 3:12 pm; the return flight 257 departs Puerto Plata at 4:14 pm and arrives in Atlanta at 8:40 pm.
