The preliminary hearing in the case against ex-army colonel and former President Hipolito Mejia’s security chief Pedro Julio “Pepe” Goico Guerrero, former captain Quirino Ernesto Paulino Castillo and another eleven people accused in a case of alleged laundering of assets obtained through drug trafficking, was postponed until 14 July by Judge Natividad Ramona Santos because of the lack of a vehicle to transport Eleuterio Guante, who allegedly coordinated the drug’s transportation, from Najayo Prison. Meanwhile, Pepe Goico is claiming that he has never met Quirino and accused District Attorney Jose Manuel Hernandez Peguero of “crossing the line” in the way in which his arrest was handled, according to a report by Diario Libre. Hernandez said that there is sufficient evidence to prove that there was a commercial relationship between Pepe Goico and Quirino Paulino Castillo.
