Four thousand families and small business will benefit from a rural electrification project underway in Las Galeras, Samana, as reported in the Listin Diario. The US$1 million project includes a 32-kilometer transmission line and 170-kilowatt wind energy generation facility. The Compania de Luz y Fuerza of Las Terrenas already serves 800 kilowatts in Las Galeras, and worked closely with the eolic energy generation project.
