DR wins gold and silver

The DR had its best day yesterday during the XX Central American and Caribbean Games that are being held in Colombia, during which it won seven medals (3 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze) and three regional records, climbing to fifth position in the general medal ranking. Listin Diario reports that Dominican weightlifter Yudelkis Contreras won two gold medals and one silver medal in her Central American and Caribbean Games debut, becoming the regional champion, after beating very strong rivals from Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico. The Dominican Athlete of the Year said that the DR must be very happy because what she did was for all Dominicans. She had special thanks for her trainer Hector Dominguez.

Another Dominican gold winner was Paris Goico in 30 meters archery with 358 out of 360 possible points. Paris became the youngest champion in the archery tournament.
