Eurofly special fares from Punta Cana

Eurofly, the Italian leisure carrier based in Milan, Italy, is promoting special fares on the once-a-week Milan (Malpensa T2) and Rome (Fiumicino) routes to Punta Cana (PUJ) international airport, on the east coast of the DR. These flights depart on Tuesdays at midnight. The airline is promoting a US$699 RT fare (airport fees and taxes not included) valid for travel from 1 July to 31 August, the peak summer season, and a US$549 RT, (airport fees and taxes not included) fare valid for travel from 1 September to 15 December.

Eurofly started off as Alitalia?s charter arm, began to go independent in 1998 and the remaining Alitalia shares were sold to the Spinnaker Luxembourg SA fund in 2003. The airline now is concentrated on flying point-to-point to holiday destinations. The airline provides long-haul leisure flights from Italy mainly to the Maldives, Kenya, Punta Cana and Mexico destinations. The company has positioned itself as a high-quality, low cost option for air travel to Italy.

This year the airline launched a service to New York from Rome, Naples, Bologna and Palermo. Company president, Augusto Angioletti has said that market research shows that clients want point-to-point flights.

At the present time, Eurofly leads in the Italian leisure market. Other players are Blue Panorama, Lauda Air, Livingston, Neon, Volare and Air Europe.

The company is a partner of the major Italian and European tour operators, including Viaggi del Ventaglio, as a result of a recent commercial agreement. The company is also developing new distribution channels through the Internet, call centers and travel agencies to sell tickets directly to end-users.

Eurofly?s vision is to become the leading Italian private carrier in the leisure segment, focused on international routes, innovative and fast in exploiting new market opportunities. At present, the company is already the second largest Italian carrier for long-haul flights after Alitalia. The company seeks to focus on long haul in order to decrease seasonality, and will continue to evolve from a charter to leisure carrier, also catering for cargo activity on its routes. The airline uses Airbus 330-200 aircrafts.

Eurofly received a boost when it became the official carrier of the Italian national football team, which eventually won the 2006 World Cup.

The airline is represented in the DR by General Air Services. For information and reservations, call 809 621-7777.
