The Ministry of Tourism announces the September release of a special collection of Dominican musical gems, many of which have been recorded by famous artists, in homage to their original composers. The CD, ?Caribbean Gems: Joyas Musicales Dominicanas? is produced by maestro Jose Antonio Molina and The Miami Latin Pops Orchestra. The 83-minute production contains 13 boleros, merengues, bachatas and son compositions by outstanding Dominican composers, including Rafael Solano, Papa Molina, Tono Abreu, Salvador Sturla, Juan Lockward, Luis Rivera, Luis Kalaf, Manuel Sanchez Acosta, Bienvenido Brens, Manuel Troncoso, Mario de Jesus and Rafael Landestoy, among others. Pianists Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Krency Garcia (El Prodigio), and trumpeter Luis Aquino (Puerto Rico) participated as well as the University of Miami choir.
The CD was recorded at Emilio Estefan?s Miami studio and will be released for sale in September 2006.
