The Ministry of Education will be distributing 8,672,418 free textbooks to public school students registering for the 2006-2007 school year. This will represent an expenditure of RD$386 million. The distribution of the books will begin in September. A further four million used books will also be distributed through the book recovery system implemented in public schools. The distribution of books will be at no cost to students.
