Play ball!

Tourists visiting the Dominican Republic through January have the opportunity to attend Dominican style baseball games, with all the enthusiasm that local crowds bring to the game. The strongest rivalry is between the Tigres del Licey (tigers) and Aguilas Cibaenas (eagles), that play at Santo Domingo’s Quisqueya Ball Park (capacity 25,000) or the Cibao ball park (capacity 18,000) in Santiago. The Santo Domingo Quisqueya park is home to the Escogido Lions and the Licey Tigers. Games start at 7:30 pm on weeknights and at 5 pm on Sundays and holidays. Games are also held in La Romana’s Frank Micheli park (capacity 10,000), San Pedro de Macoris Tetelo Vargas park (capacity 8,000), and the San Francisco de Macoris Julian Javier stadium (capacity 12,000) that is home to the Gigantes (giants).
