Reaching out to the local community

The Elliot Foundation, part of the Sun Village Resorts holding company, has entered into partnership with CitiHope International to donate US$300,000 worth of medical supplies to poor families in the Puerto Plata area. Sun Village Resorts is a Canadian founded company with operations at Cofresi Beach, Puerto Plata and will soon be opening a resort at Juan Dolio Beach.

“We are blessed and honored with the opportunity to support CitiHope’s mission assisting people in need in the Dominican Republic,” said Derek Elliott, co-founder of the Elliott Foundation and president and CEO of Elliott. “Since the opening of our first Dominican Republic resort Sun Village Resort & Spa Cofresi, we have become very involved in the local Puerto Plata community. Funding a CitiHope mission helps us make lives healthier and more comfortable in an impoverished community that, despite a recent explosion in tourism, still needs so much.”

The materials are being airlifted in March. CitiHope International and The Elliott Foundation will then distribute the materials to local medical institutions and physicians.
