Cabarete is again hosting Cabarete Classic Windsurfing Regatta from 26-29 June. Categories are slalom and freestyle and the event is open to windsurfers of all levels. Organizers explain that last year many recreational sailors took part in the slalom windsurfing competition, and a great number of mini-juniors under the age of 12 had fun racing around one jibe mark. Ari Barshi of Carib Wind Center, one of the organizers, explains that it is more of a windsurfing festival than a professional regatta and that families are welcome. Carib Wind Center offers special racing rental gear and lots of kids’ gear for rent, too.
