AA wants a DR hub

American Airlines DR director Eduardo del Pozo says that the company is interested in setting up a hub for its American Eagle brand in the country. Del Pozo said that as from July three planes will be permanently based in the DR and will make trips to Curacao, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Haiti. He said that they are currently waiting for approval from the US Civil Aviation Board. Del Pozo estimates that an additional 150,000 visitors will fly to the DR in the first year if these new routes are added. American Airlines also recently requested the right to fly to Puerto Rico from Samana.
