Las Americas is safest in Caribbean

The United States Transport Safety Administration (TSA) has classified Las Americas International Airport (AILA), the leading port of entry to the capital city of Santo Domingo, as the safest airport in the Caribbean.

The announcement came during a meeting between executives of Aerodom, which administers the airport, and the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESA) and the Transport Security Administration of the US Department of Homeland Security. The TSA has been carrying out inspections of airports in the area since the 9/11 attacks.
