Four Seasons Casa de Campo

Casa de Campo is promising that the recently announced 200-room Four Seasons Casa de Campo Resort will be the most luxurious beach hotel in the country. Eddie Creed, one of the founders of the Canadian chain, said that the owners of Casa de Campo are going all out with the project. He said the US$120 million hotel would open in winter 2009. “We could have gone anywhere else on the island, but we chose Casa de Campo because we know the property well, the company behind the project and the spectacular property they were offering us,” said Creed. Creed has owned a villa in Casa de Campo since 1978.

The Four Seasons Casa de Campo will be located at one end of Punta Aguila at Caleton Beach on 67 acres with 3,100 feet of beachfront. All rooms will have a sea view. Felipe Icaza, from Diego Villasenor y Asociados the Mexican architectural firm entrusted with the project, said that they have been inspired by the country’s history and its sugar industry. The Villasenor firm (DVA) was responsible for the design of the Four Seasons Punta Mita hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and is regarded as one of the top contemporary architectural firms in the Americas today. Icaza explained the hotel will recreate the style of a sugar hacienda, and the hotel will be located amidst an exuberant garden with trails for the guests’ enjoyment. The hotel’s interior design has been contracted to Zmistowski Design Group of Colorado, USA.

This will be a family hotel, with a ‘Kids for All Seasons’ club, and a young adults area too. The hotel will also feature two additional beaches for 1,250 feet of beach, and four tennis courts. A banquet and convention area for social events is part of the resort.

There will also be a 43,000 square foot spa on the premises, run by Amy McDonald, a former spa director at Miraval in Arizona.
