Internet gains as way tourists learn about DR

More tourists are learning about the Dominican Republic through the Internet, according to the most recently published Opinion, Attitude and Motivation Survey to Non-Resident Foreign Arrivals carried out by the Central Bank. In 2006, 9.9% of visiting tourists found out about the DR through the Internet, compared to 7.5% in 2005 and 4.9% in 2004. The survey showed that travel agencies prevail as the most important source of how tourists found out about the country, with 30% (down from 35.7% in 2005), followed by friends with 22%. 24.8% mentioned a previous visit.
