Colorado Rockies top brass visit

The top brass of the Colorado Rockies were in Santo Domingo over the weekend to visit their Boca Chica Baseball City academy. Visiting were Charles K. Monfort, chairman and CEO; Richard L. Monfort, vice chairman; Greg Feasel, senior VP for business operations; Harold Roth, senior VP, chief financial officer; Gill Geivett, Marc Gustafson and Rolando Fernandez, director of operations for Latin America, among others. As reported in Diario Libre, the team is proud of the new players coming out of that organization. Dominican talent includes Willie Taveras, Ubaldo Jimenez, Franklin Morales, Manuel Corpas, Alberto Arias, Juan Morillo, Juan Uribe and Neifi Perez who have come up the ranks of academy training in the DR.

World Series Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez, who accompanied the important visitors, announced that after taking a break he would join the Licey Tigers in the Dominican Winter Professional League. ?I will be pitching for Licey this winter to continue developing my talent,? Jimenez told Diario Libre. Jimenez pitched against the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. On Saturday, the visiting Rockies staff attended a Licey vs. Escogido game in Santo Domingo.
