Crocs for Dominican children

Dominican children from poor neighborhoods in Puerto Plata will be sporting trendy Crocs shoes this holiday season. Crocs, the manufacturer of innovative footwear donated 10,000 pairs of newly recycled Crocs as part of activities scheduled for the Dominican International Film Festival. The event was held on 8-11 November at Sun Village Resort & Spa in Cofresi Beach. The effort was coordinated by SolesUnitedSM, a charitable organization representing the shoe manufacturer. SolesUnited uses scrap material as well as recycled Crocs to create new footwear products for people in need. Crocs was a sponsor of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. A beach volleyball court was set up at the festival and local children played with and against the AVP players.

The donation comes in the wake of Tropical Storm Noel that caused flooding in many poor neighborhoods in Puerto Plata. The festival is presented by the Elliott Foundation, which partnered with Crocs, the SolesUnited program and JetBlue airline to help distribute the shoes to the neediest communities in the DR. Dominican actor Manny Perez, best known for his roles in this year?s critically acclaimed ?El Cantante? starring opposite Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony and the hit television series ?Rescue Me,? hosted a children?s film program during the festival.

Crocs brand shoes have gained popularity for their innovative closed-cell resin material that produces soft, comfortable, lightweight, superior-gripping, non-marking and odor-resistant shoes.
