Local games in Santiago de los Caballeros in the traditional winter championship, the Caribbean Series, are scheduled for 4pm and 8pm daily from Saturday, 2 February through Thursday, 7 February. But ESPN Deportes, the Spanish language sports network, will be transmitting the Caribbean Series in the United States an hour earlier, at 3 and 7pm.
This is the 50th anniversary of the 12-game Caribbean Series that matches the winning teams of the championships held in Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. This year, Puerto Rico will not be participating, and will be replaced by a second team from the DR. This year ESPN has already transmitted over 50 of the professional winter league games in the DR, Mexico and Venezuela.
