Mirador

Cicom and Grupo Preferente of Mallorca, Spain have come together to produce “Mirador”, a free tourism trade magazine focusing on the Dominican travel industry. The first issue was launched during DATE, the Dominican Annual Travel Exchange that took place in Punta Cana earlier this month. Mirador will provide articles, investigative reports and analysis on the sector. It will also feature international industry stories deemed of interest to the local market. Subscriptions to the magazine can be made by calling 809 683-3881. Its first issue focuses on the impact of Cap Cana and its effects on industry leader Casa de Campo. It also reports that Haydee Kuret de Rainieri of Grupo Puntacana was the consensus candidate to head the National Hotel & Restaurant Association board, starting in September 2008. Other features of the first issue are Samana’s new airport, restoration efforts in the historic center of Puerto Plata, and a biography of Miguel Escarrer, founder of Sol Melia chain.

Manuel Quiterio Cedeno is the editor of the magazine. Cedeno says that the publication’s objective is to defend the industry that is fundamental for the country’s development.
