Wyndham Collection hotel in DR

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts becomes the first international chain to operate a property at Cap Cana, the luxury vacation community in Punta Cana on the east coast. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts president Peter Strebel announced that the 497-unit luxury property would be known as Green Village at Cap Cana, a Wyndham Grand Bay Resort. The resort is scheduled to open “during the fourth quarter of this year” and will make it easy for golfers to be closer to the increasingly famous Jack Nicklaus Punta Espada golf course.

The resort will feature luxury one-bedroom bungalows, two-bedroom villas and four- to six-bedroom residences built by Cap Cana and managed by Wyndham.

The resort, which joins the brand’s Wyndham Grand Collection, represents the chain’s third Grand Bay property in addition to the luxury Aura Cozumel, a Wyndham Grand Bay hotel in Cozumel, and the Grand Bay Hotel, Isla Navidad Resort, located on a 1,200-acre private island in Manzanillo, Mexico.

Strebel said the project builds on the lodging chain’s 24-resort portfolio in the Caribbean and Mexico, which also includes properties in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, the Bahamas, Cozumel, Riviera Maya and five all-inclusive Viva Wyndham properties in the Dominican Republic.
